ASTHMA EDUCATION FOR SCHOOL NURSES AND PERSONNEL  Asthma is the leading cause of school absenteeism – let’s combat this problem together!

This program is presented by the University of Florida and the University of South Florida Pulmonary Statewide Network for Access and Quality (SNAQ) Team.

Our Story

Children with asthma spend much of their time in school and we would like to ensure school nurses/personnel understand the vital role they play in delivering asthma care.

We are in partnership with Children’s Medical Services and the National Institute of Children’s Health Quality.

We have developed a quality improvement project with an aim to improve the level of comfort and knowledge base for school nurses/personnel in the state of Florida and beyond.

Throughout the pandemic, we have learned that in order to accommodate a larger audience we needed to create pre-recorded segments of education, which we are working to make available soon.

The objective of the training sessions will be:

  • Asthma pathophysiology
  • Medication management and triggers
  • Inhaler technique
  • Opportunities for questions
  • Pre and Post assessment survey

In the meantime, we are hosting LIVE asthma health educational training via Zoom that offers an opportunity for Q&A with our team members in real time!
